Phitkari
is an astringent, anti-spasmodic, antiseptic and has a soothing effect on the respiratory tract. Vasaka is a very popular expectorant used in acute and chronic bronchitis. It also liquefies the Sputum. Nala is an anti-spasmodic expectorant, mainly used to reduce
bronchospasm during an attack. Dudhi has depressant action on the cough centre, but relaxes bronchi, and is particularly effective in children's cough. Huma controls the asthmatic paroxysms. Jethimadh is used as mild expectorant and as demulcent in inflammatory affections and irritable, conditions of the bronchial tubes. Asgandh is a tonic, astringent
